Describe the plant-sitting services you offer
I offer dependable, attentive care for your indoor and outdoor plants while you’re away. My services are tailored to your plants’ individual needs and your instructions.
*Indoor plant visits: I water according to each plant’s needs, check soil moisture, empty drainage trays, and remove dead leaves. I also tidy the immediate area around your plants, wiping up any water spills and collecting fallen leaves.
*Porch and patio plant care: I water pots, hanging baskets, and container gardens, following your instructions and paying attention to weather conditions that may affect watering needs.
*Plant checks and photo updates: I look for wilting, discoloration, or visible signs of pests and send a brief update with photos. If a problem arises, I contact you to discuss the next steps. Any pest treatment must be agreed upon in advance and appropriate for the plant and setting.
*Extended vacation care: I provide repeat visits on an agreed schedule, giving your plants consistent attention throughout your time away.
*Optional small extras: At your request, I can bring in mail or packages and rotate plants for more even light exposure.
My goal is to care for your plants thoughtfully and help you feel comfortable leaving them in my care.
What experience do you have caring for plants?
I’m a retired nurse with a lifelong love of plants and many years of hands-on experience caring for my own houseplants, flowers, and outdoor plants. Even throughout my nursing career, tending to my plants was something I always made time for and enjoyed. Caring for them has been a rewarding part of my everyday life for many years.
I love growing different varieties and learning what each needs to thrive. I understand that plants have different needs, and I pay attention to their individual watering requirements, light conditions, and overall appearance. My nursing background has strengthened my patience, attention to detail, and dependability—qualities I bring to caring for plants, too.
I would be happy to provide attentive plant care while you’re away, following your instructions and keeping you updated, including photos, so you can enjoy your time away with peace of mind. Whether you have a few cherished houseplants or a collection of indoor and patio plants, I would treat them with the same care and consideration I give my own.
What types of plants are you comfortable caring for?
I can provide routine care for a variety of houseplants, flowering plants, and outdoor container plants, following the owner’s instructions for each variety.
Low-light indoor plants: Snake plants, ZZ plants, pothos, cast-iron plants, and Chinese evergreens.
Plants that prefer bright, indirect light: Peace lilies, spider plants, philodendrons, African violets, prayer plants, and moth orchids.
Sun-loving plants: Jade plants, aloe vera, many varieties of cacti and succulents, geraniums, petunias, marigolds, lantana, and portulaca.
Shade and partial-shade plants: Boston ferns, impatiens, begonias, coleus, hostas, and caladiums.
Other outdoor plants: Roses, established flowering perennials, hanging baskets, patio pots, and mixed container gardens.
Herbs: Basil, rosemary, thyme, mint, oregano, and parsley.
My care includes checking soil moisture, watering appropriately, removing dead leaves and spent flowers, and watching for changes in plant appearance. I understand that care needs vary with the plant variety, season, location, and weather. Before beginning, I will review the owner’s usual care routine and any special requirements so I can provide consistent, attentive care while they are away.
What will you do during a typical visit?
During a typical visit, I will follow your care instructions and check each plant’s soil moisture before watering as needed. I will care for indoor plants, porch and patio pots, hanging baskets, and container gardens included in our agreement. As I work, I will look for changes such as wilting, discolored leaves, or visible signs of pests and let you know about any concerns. I will remove dead leaves and spent flowers, empty drainage trays, wipe up water spills, and tidy the immediate area around your plants. If requested, I can also rotate plants for more even light exposure. For outdoor plants, I will consider weather conditions when assessing watering needs. Before leaving, I will make sure watering supplies are put away and your home is secured as instructed. I will send a brief update, including photos, so you know how your plants are doing. By prior arrangement, I can also bring in mail or packages. My goal is to give your plants thoughtful, consistent attention and help you enjoy your time away with peace of mind.
What makes you a reliable plant sitter?
I will provide reliable care by agreeing on a clear visit schedule with each owner and reviewing their plant care instructions before services begin. I will keep written notes about watering needs, plant locations, access instructions, and any special requests so that I can follow the agreed routine consistently. As a retired nurse, I understand the importance of dependability, careful observation, and clear communication, and I will bring those same qualities to every visit.
Owners can let me know their preferred method of communication, whether by text, phone, or email. After each visit, I will provide a brief update with photos and mention any changes or concerns I notice. If a plant appears unhealthy or needs attention beyond our agreed care plan, I will contact the owner before making changes or applying treatments. I will also request an emergency contact before care begins. If an unexpected situation affects my ability to visit, I will notify the owner promptly so we can arrange an appropriate alternative. I will respect each owner’s home, privacy, and instructions throughout the time their plants are in my care.
