Describe the plant-sitting services you offer
As a nature lover, I intend on keeping your plant babies well hydrated and with good sunlight while you yourself cannot care for them.
I offer plant sitting at your home while you’re away on vacation or for an extended stay. As a certified permaculture landscape designer, I also offer site evaluations, if you ever wanted to expand your plant obsession outdoors. That includes resiliency planting for climate change disasters and incorporating vegetable and fruit gardens into your lovely outdoor living space.
I’m well versed in integrated pest management and utilize organic means of treating most disease and/or insect problems. Nearly all of the products I use will be safe around small children and pets.
It’s my life’s passion to care for nature and the plants that bring us clean air, but more importantly, they bring us immense joy and there’s no better comfort of mind than knowing your houseplants are safe with someone who understands their needs.
What experience do you have caring for plants?
I have nearly ten years of hands-on experience caring for plants across vegetable, ornamental, and native landscapes, supported by a PDC-PRO certification in permaculture sustainable landscape design.
My previous work, as a Community Garden Educator, I managed a 2,200-square-foot vegetable plot using intensive planting, crop rotation, drip irrigation, shading, and mulch to keep plants healthy through changing seasons.
I used soil testing kits to monitor pH and nutrients, amended soil naturally with compost and cover crops, and applied integrated pest management by teaching volunteers to identify beneficial insects versus harmful pests. I also implemented rainwater harvesting and water-conservation practices and maintained a planting calendar for continuous production and year-round education.
Beyond daily care, I mentored new educators through a buddy system and answered visitor questions. I pay attention to plant health and respond to seasonal stress with patience and consistency, so I can both tend plants well and teach others to do the same.
What types of plants are you comfortable caring for?
I’m familiar with most house plants and have a drive for researching those I’m unfamiliar with. That said, I’m comfortable caring for a wide range of plants, including common houseplants like pothos, philodendrons, monsteras, snake plants, ZZ plants, peace lilies, ferns, succulents, cacti, orchids, and fiddle-leaf figs.
I also have experience with outdoor container plants, herbs, raised-bed vegetables, native perennials, and pollinator-friendly landscaping. With nearly ten years of hands-on plant care and a PDC-PRO permaculture certification, I’m used to adjusting watering, light, humidity, and soil conditions based on each plant’s needs rather than following one fixed routine.
I’m careful about overwatering, check soil moisture before watering, watch for pests or stress, and can follow detailed care instructions for more specialized plants.
I’m less experienced with rare collector species or highly sensitive exotics, but I’m happy to follow your specific schedule and notes. My priority is keeping your plants healthy, stable, and stress-free while you’re away.
What will you do during a typical visit?
On a typical visit, I arrive at the scheduled time, check that the home is secure, and review any notes you left. I walk through each room and inspect every plant for soil moisture, leaf color, pests, wilting, and signs of stress. I water only plants that need it, using your instructions and a moisture meter or finger test to avoid overwatering. I empty saucers, trim dead leaves or spent blooms, rotate pots for even light, mist humidity-loving plants, and wipe dust from leaves. I adjust blinds or move plants if light conditions have changed, and check that heating or cooling is not stressing them. I refill humidifiers or self-watering systems as needed, take photos, and log what I did and any concerns. Before leaving, I clean up, confirm doors are locked, and send you a brief update so you know your plants are healthy and your home is secure.
What makes you a reliable plant sitter?
I provide reliable care by treating every visit as a scheduled commitment: I confirm dates in advance, arrive on time, follow your written instructions, and use a checklist so no plant or task is missed. I track soil moisture, keep consistent watering routines, and log each visit with notes and photos. After every visit, I send a brief update covering what I watered, any changes in plant health, pests, or home concerns. I respond promptly to texts and emails and follow up on any concerns until resolved. If something urgent arises—a leak, pest outbreak, or sudden wilting—I contact you immediately with a photo and a recommended solution before acting beyond our agreed scope. I also leave a written summary and welcome a pre-trip walkthrough and check-in call. My ultimately goal is always to have clear, consistent communication so you always feel very confident your plants and home are in reliable, capable hands.
