Describe the plant-sitting services you offer
I want to be YOUR gardener! Whether it's planning, planting, pruning, plucking pests, watering, weeding, installation, removal, site preparation, holistic lawn care, or a sitter for the house plants, Let Jungle Jim take care of it. Rates hourly.
What experience do you have caring for plants?
I've been a professional horticulturalist for 13 years and been working in the Inland Northwest for two years of that time. I have extensive experience in greenhouses, lawn care, professional and personal gardening. For the past 5 years I have worked as a private personal gardener as Jungle Jim. In that past I was also a member of a group which installed community gardens in cooperation with HoAs and historical societies.
What types of plants are you comfortable caring for?
I have extensive experience with both indoor and outdoor plants, and have bought, sold, appraised, installed, nurtured, propagated, and rehabilitated and even removed all varieties of plants. Whether it's indoor foliage and flowers to help cheer through the cold season, an herb and pollinator garden by the backdoor, or a private orchard and chicken coop, let me help take the work out of your cultivated collection.
What will you do during a typical visit?
A typical visit starts with a check-in to let you know I've arrived, most people prefer a text. Next, unless we've previously set the scope of the work for this visit, I'll appraise things, checking soil for water, what weeds may have grown in, signs of pests, or needed pruning. I prefer solving things by hand whenever possible, pulling weeds, manually removing pests, and using elbow grease or electricity rather than gas tools. By starting with the most measured option, I aim to ensure the health and safety of both your garden and the environment. If there is a special project, such as installing new raised beds or a plant shelf with lights, that comes next. Lastly, I'll clean up and let you know what I've accomplished. Most visits last an hour or two, longer as needed.
What makes you a reliable plant sitter?
Horticulture is both my passion and my profession; I love plants and people who love plants. I'm punctual, thorough, and detail oriented. If it needs to grow or it needs a trim, you can count on Jungle Jim!
