Describe the plant-sitting services you offer
I offer a wide-range of services, such of pest & disease inspections, plant care assessments & tips, watering, pruning, outdoor and indoor care, etc.
What experience do you have caring for plants?
I have 4 years of a combine professional and personal experience through a multitude of jobs I’ve had over the years. I’ve worked at Menards in the Hardware & Garden Center Department, at WeedMan Lawn Care, and my most recent (and current job) is working as an intern in the Plant Production Department at Chicago Botanic Garden.
I also have been volunteering at Garfield Park Conservatory for 11 months now.
Expected to graduate with my Horticulture degree in Applied Science in May of 2027!
I specialize in plant pathology and implementing IPM measures to make sure plants are getting the most out of me as their provider, as I care for more than 80+ plants of my own daily!
What types of plants are you comfortable caring for?
I’m very comfortable caring for indoor & outdoor plants including ornamentals, fruits & vegetables, herbs, and small shrubs like Japanese Yews or Hydrangeas.
What will you do during a typical visit?
During a typical visit, I will first walk the area and assess the care needed for each plant by taking mental notes on if a plant is water-loving or prefers to be dried out. Weather plays a huge role in my decision to water, especially if it has rained/will rain in the near future.
For each individual plant, I will inspect the plant for pests, diseases, or excessive fertilizer use and flush with clear water every couple of waterings. Inspections include looking at the soil, stems, leaves (including underside), and nooks and crannies on flowers (bugs love to hide in there, like mealys).
When I’m finished with my task (also will accept specific requests), I will clean up after myself.
I can also repot or propagate plants upon request if there are materials for that!
What makes you a reliable plant sitter?
I’ve got tons of experience from real life professionals that have been in the horticulture and lawn care industry for more than 20+ years, and 4 years of hands-on work myself.
I live and breathe plants — read about them, work with them at work, volunteer in my free time with them, come home and work on them, play video games revolved around them … it goes to show that I absolutely adore them! I’m very respectful of everyone’s property as I would expect that from others, and would never do anything outside of requests and water I am expected to do.
